TRANSLATION: Bulgarian Salad No Bread
Spotted! The first allergen awareness note I’ve received when eating out at a restaurant. The note was originated in the kitchen by the chef, passed to the waitress and handed off to me! It made me feel a little better about eating my salad, mitigating the fear of cross contamination.
The entire gluten-free experience at Abigail’s in Cambridge, MA was not the smoothest…my first order of the “gluten-free” yucca fritters turned out to be a mis-labeled gluten-free item! My lovely waitress brought deliciously crisp yucca cakes to the table and when I asked if they used a separate frier, she was so embarrassed and quickly took the plate away, saying she forgot about the different levels of sensitivity.
This little allergy alert note boosted my confidence about healthy and pain-free eating… a little!
